STOP THAT LAUGHING AT THE BACK
Children's TV sketch series for Granada TV
This series starred Nimmy March, Paul
Bradley, Joe Unwin and Michael Fenton Stevens. A highly innovative series,
all parts were played by the cast with male roles often being played by the
female members of the cast and vice versa. The show also had the daring idea
of hiring a single band to perform all the musical inserts for the entire
series. In other words, they recorded their entire album and a differentsong
was used every week. The production team auditioned several up and coming
bands of the time including Wet, Wet, Wet and Curiosity Killed the Cat. Unfortunately
they chose Hugh and Cry who faded rapidly after their hit song "Looking Out
for Linda". You can't win them all. Nimmy March can be seen regularly in
various roles on the TV. Joe Unwin is married to Chris Morris and writes
and performsfor TV. Paul Bradley went on to make the series "Bradley" for
Granada butshot to fame as Nigel in Eastenders. He is currently appearing
in the WestEnd. Tim Sullivan is a successful film writer and director. James
Maw nowlives in Brighton and is a Journalist and radio producer/writer/presenter
and a lovely bloke.
